Most women at one point in their life are asked to be a bridesmaid. Some (like myself) have been a bridesmaid numerous times. One of the nice things about serving as a bridesmaid is that the bride usually presents you and the other bridesmaids (if there are any others) with bridesmaid gifts.
Jewelry is a common bridesmaid gift. Do you know a woman on this earth who doesn’t like jewelry? Exactly my point. This can go wrong if you are not careful so make sure you take a few things into consideration. The first thing is to buy bridesmaid gifts that you believe your bridesmaids will like. This may mean that you are not “thrilled” with them, but it has to be important that they like them as well not only you. I was a bridesmaid for a very good friend of mine a while back. We wore these beautiful dresses that all the girls loved. Then came the time that we were presented with our cherished bridesmaid gifts. Let me preface this by saying that the bride adored dolphins. Any idea what our gifts were? You got it….big chunky gaudy dolphin necklace and earrings. It is customary that you wear your bridesmaid gift after receiving it. So there I was in all the pictures with a smile, a beautiful dress, and jewelry that was as heavy as a brick! With that being said, remember if you are a bride-to-be choose bridesmaid gifts that are appropriate for the occasion.
Another thing to remember if you are purchasing these gifts is to know your budget. Beautiful expensive gifts are lovely, but you don’t need to break the bank. On the other hand, you don’t want to give gifts that you can get at the dollar store either so use good judgment. One more point to remember if you are a bride purchasing these gifts is to have an idea what you want to buy before going out to purchase it. Aimlessly going from store to store waiting for something to “jump out at you” can be time consuming and stressful. Just what a bride does not need with her wedding just around the corner. If you use good judgment, buy a gift that shows just how much you appreciate them, you’ll be just fine. Have fun!
